I just try to remember to put the trickle charger on the bikes for a day every month. Sometimes every other month.
Most important step (in my never humble opinion) is to stabilize the fuel. Cleaning "varnish" out of the carb jets in the spring is either a lot of work/time or a lot of money and a dollar's worth of Sta-Bil will prevent it.
Try to move the bike every couple of weeks to reduce the "flat spots" on your tires.
Keep the bike as dry as possible wherever you store it. Don't cover it with plastic, use an old sheet to keep off the dust.
